Summer Fashion DONT EVERs: Intro and Point Number 1

Time line of seasons

From what I’ve heard, this is how the seasons usually go down in New York, it goes winter to spring, I dunno for a DAY, to full blown summer. Full-blown summer means humidity. For the normal New Yorker, winter means massive amounts of clothes, covering everything but our eyes. Spring brings a pleasant transition to dresses and tights. This ushers in a dangerous loss of taste with almost-naked women without bras walking the streets. And I didn’t say hot naked women. A terrible but utterly real slippery slippery downward depression.

Summer Bodies

Recall the story of the animal, whatever animal it was that took all spring working to store up grain or food or whatever it was instead of wasting away its time. When winter came there was plenty to eat and the rabbit? the ant? Whatever it was, the animal was able to enjoy all that hard work.
It’s the same idea, opposite seasons. I tell this story to say, if you have a summer body, rock the summer fits. The winter work out allowing for cute summer clothing has earned you that right. If you’ve worked for it, enjoy summer clothing because you’ve spent hours upon hours and countless reps getting a summer body that will look good in that summer clothing. But if you spent all winter effortlessly getting fat, spare us all and don’t wear summer clothing. Be creative. Think of a way to not let all of that spill out over a too-small waistband. If you can't fit into that little dress, don’t wear it.
And lets get this squared away right off the bat; I don’t mean, “showing more” in a nasty way. I’m talking showing off arms, shoulders, clavicles, and not more cleavage or leg. Tasteful ladies. Lets keep it classy. And trust me, this is hard for me to say, being a cute little shorts- tank-, dress-, skirt- lover and at the same time, being a fat girl. But it’s the reality of summer and I’m not being harsh, just real.
If you’re like most women, if you’re like me, you’ve put that dress on, and it doesn’t quite fit the same as it did a year ago. And it’s not looking hot like it did a year ago. It’s just looking snug. And snug is not the adjective you were looking to use when you put it back on. So now the depression sets in, then thoughts of crash summer diets or working out and hoping to see results in three consecutive days at the gym. You know, I know women who even thought that de-toxing would help in this skinny endeavor. But it’s too late, just start working out now. Since you’re not going to get skinny in a week.
I’ve made a list of summer do’s and Don’t EVER’s for skinny and fat girls alike. Well, just fat girls I guess, skinny girls you can wear whatever you want. You don’t even have to read this. In fact, you’re probably not reading this because you’re probably out shopping for dresses and skirts and tanks that us fat girls are all wishing we could wear. Fellow Fat Girls, read on.

SUMMER DONTS. SUMMER NEVERS.
DO NOT. EVER. DO THIS:

If you have boobs, large ones:

Don’t go bra-less. Please. For your sake, for my sake, for the sake of this world. If you have any type of consideration for people other than yourself, please, please wear a bra. Don’t be selfish and inconsiderate, and you know what, I’m gonna go ahead and say it. Don’t be rude. It's rude to force others to look at what you’re putting on display when no one wants to see it. No free shows. Heck, I’d pay you to put it away. When I first moved to New York, I was sooo taken aback by how many women didn’t wear bras. A girl I used to work with never wore them. I can’t even recall a time when she wore one. And I know you can’t tell because this is all written, but if you could see how much time I just spent trying to recall a time when she did wear a bra……

……There would’ve been like that much space.

On the other hand, if you could be mistaken for a boy because of your lack of boobs: (I fall into this category, don’t feel bad girls)

You’re cool. I honestly think these girls can go braless in certain tops and it just ends up looking better. And lets be real, you feel as free as a freaking bird without a bra.

A Note about the braless option:

The whole point of this section can be easily compared to the use and practicality of the thong/g-string. Ladies, we all know the reason for the thong: get rid of unwanted underwear lines. Underwear lines are definitely not a good look especially in nice dress pants, a fitted dress, or a skirt.
SO the genius thong was invented to remedy this problem.
THEN. Christina or Pamela (I’m thinking Christina Aguilera, Dirty Video maybe? Youtube it if you want, or you know, don't)-- that’s when I really took notice, because I couldn’t NOT. Around the same time as the advent of the super-ultra-lowest-rise-of-your-life-denim trend, thongs showing everywhere became a trend too. You know, put the strings on your hip, with your ultra low rise jeans. Ew. Please. The thong then evolved from something that was supposed to hide little nuances such as underwear lines to something that was to be put on display, a thing of seduction and nastiness really. Different connotations of thongs and girls who wear them came into being. I say all of this to say: not wearing a bra is NOT to show that you’re not wearing a bra, alright girls? Lets not pull a Christina.

the angels mustve been so tired from partying all day that day.

james dongseng came to visit.
sister came to visit. left today.
moving out of my sublet FINALLY on Monday. have to pack all day tomorrow after church.
move all day monday. work rest of the week.

sushi party at the paus tonight. amazing.
thankful for community.

i miss california. i miss my class. cant wait to go back in june. mm i can wait to go back in june though.

i wonder how my husband is doing.
if you see him. tell him im waiting. and i canNOT freaking wait to meet him.

timing. is. so important.

found my ucdavis alumni pin. im sporting that everyday like my cameo necklace.
haha

none of my jeans fit. and its the most depressing thing of my life. which in turn will cause me to eat more. and then not be able to fit into them. that much more... saddest day.

washington

ive been in washington for the past week now. and will stay here until the end of next week.

my grandpa is in the hospital and has been since jan 29. for a month.
he was diagnoised with stomach cancer. stage three.
while being checked in for that. they also found out he had lung issues and pneumonia.
but my grandpa wouldnt go to the hospital for just any reason.
stubborn old man.

hes been living on a ventilator breathing tube type deal.
it cant be in there for more than 2 weeks.
after the 2 week mark it starts to get dangerous.
messes with tissue and what not.
so i think were taking it out on sunday night.
and after that it could be hours until hes gone.

i dont know how to feel. i feel. numb.
i cry when i watch my grandma.
shed ask my grandpa to hold her hand. ask him to please wake up. how is she supposed to go on without him.
my grandma is tough. shes always yelling. always. i guess it doesnt help that my grandpa is virtually deaf.
but ive never heard my grandma speak so softly. not ever. not like i have this past week.
breaks my heart.
it hurts watching my mom make all the preparations for a potential funeral.
my cousin said soemthing like, "coffins arent cheap"
my mom replies, "theyre called caskets"
she has to be strong, but at the same time she looks so defeated. so tired. drained.

im the one that always smiles. the one that makes everyone laugh.
with my jokes. or my broke korean. or dancing or singing. whatever it is.
but i think. i hide being that a lot. smiley sarah. you know?

i was alone with my grandpa and i thought.
"man ive never spent this much time alone with my grandpa"
it wasnt sad. but it wasnt happy either. i mean. no regrets.
but it was good to hold my grandpas med swollen hand for a while.
sang any praise song i could think of.
in christ alone comes to mind.

i think a lot is going on in my heart. and to be honest. i dont know how to deal with it.
i dont really want to deal with it i think is what it is.
all i know. is im happy to be with my family.
i LOVE being able to see my mom everyday and my dad and aunt and cousins.
my sister is coming tomorrow.

i havent been reading my bible much. satan is attacking me and i can feel it.
i hate him.
numbers is a hard one. hahaha
i miss new york. funny for me to say that. but i really do.
i miss davis too. i miss california and my friends.

i just cant wait to be in heaven with OUR LORD.
CANNOT WAIT LORD. what i long for. what i live for. what keeps me going.
in Christ alone.

Sarah Getting Owned

Fashion Week started Friday
I have 16 (give or take) events to go to. I'm loving every second of it.
minus the 40 year old women who still think theyre 20 texting on their hot pink rhinestoned phones.
so far: frank tell. elise overland. tuleh.
For Monday: luca luca. toni maticevski. terevox. elie tahari.
more to update on this later.

Eddie Lee and I went to DC last week. He stayed in NY with me. and just left me.
we ended the trip with half glasses of room temperature moscato. cheers.
more eddie lee trip high lights to come
note to self: learn to be a better hostess.

Grandpa isnt doing so well. please pray for him.
going to washington maybe wednesday through tuesday. not sure yet.

God is taking the things i hold in highest regard, the things i treasure the most.
slowly taking them away. taking them off of His rightful throne in my heart.
and it hurts.
its good.
and it hurts.

my thoughts:
on valentines day: romans 8
on blunt bangs: jenni lee likes them. im happy.
on getting dressed: i get dressed for girls. not for boys.
compliments from girls are SO much better than compliments from boys.

thank you yvonne yi

these are my emo glasses.
i only wear them when im REALLY SAD.
aka. now.

i hate the place im living because.
well lets be honest.
its not the last place where i was living.
which, if you had the privilege of seeing,
was amazing and adorable.
and pricey.
pricier than i could afford. so im here.

my new housemate told me we have a little roach problem. conversation goes down like this:
"so how many do you see a day?"
"oh i dont know."
"i mean like 3, 4, just how many?"
"they come out every time i cook."
"........... .     .        .               .  "

so this though post is written by myself,
will be filled with quotes from a lovely girl named yvonne yi.
if you dont know her, youre probably not cool.
(line stolen from an article written about bobby kim founder of the hundreds)

"i know my destination, but im just not there."

cross necklaces and makeshift earring backs

I lost the back of my earring.
my makeshift earring back.

i cut my bangs. i know. theyre not cute. but they are kind of. no?
there was this young girl at my church, her name was tracy. and she had a little bowl cut very similar to the image you see here. and i thought she was ugly cute. and.
i got tired of my hair. im getting it cut soon for real anyway. its fine.
oh and,
i got the storm as a graduation present, good uncles. touch is throwing me off. i cant type as fast as i could on my pearl but, it looks cool. and thats what matters in life. looking cool.

My aunt and uncle gave me the cross necklace. my NY aunt gave me the bible charm.
Gods word around my neck. my sword. too bad its not in my brain. memorized. dang it.
the cross, its weird.
such a terrible gruesome painful inhumane cross,
symbolizing the worst kind of death
can be put on a white gold chain as some sort of beautiful adornment.
throw a diamond in the middle. youre good. consumerism.

what i deserved versus what i received and continue to receive in knowing Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. the full wrath of God versus the grace and mercy i receive instead.

be pleased to move this heart Lord.

Exodus 4:10-12
10 Then Moses said to the LORD, "Please Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither recently, nor time past, nor since You have spoken to Your servant; for I am slow of speech and slow of tongue."
11 The LORD said to him, "Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes him mute or deaf, or seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?"
12 "Now then go, and I, even I, will be with your mouth, and teach you what you are you say."

My Legacy for Him
I will be used by God to be a light in the dark superficial materialistic harsh beautiful creative lovely innovative fashion industry. I will be a light in that place, giving God all the glory. He will use me to bring His people to Him, through my words but even more so through my actions.
